Why should I have an autographed Pop in my collection? Here are 3 reasons why…

We get this question all the time and besides the fact that they are awesome, there are other underlining reasons to buy them. We are not saying just buy one at random, but if there is one available and it is in the line you are collecting then maybe give it a go. This is Symbiote Collectibles, 3 reasons why you should have an autographed Pop in your collection.

  1. They don’t like to come to New Zealand much

The reason behind this is quite simple, most signings take part at large conventions such as Funko Fair, Wondercon and Emerald City. You probably already know that all these conventions are in the USA and to add to that, so are most of the authentication companies except one but we will get to that later.

  1. They are just simply worth more

Signed Pops are not just worth more in value, but they are also more sort after for collectors. Collectors are always looking for unique Pops or a unique variant of a Pop that they already have. With Funko producing more of each Pop or on some occasions even re-releasing them, it is always worth having a couple that cannot be mass produced.

  1. Makes your collection stand out

Creating a collection that has a range of Pops is one thing but owning a range of Pops that are autographed, graded, limited numbered or customized brings your collection to a whole other level. It’s all about variety, so if you have a chance to snap up an authenticated signed Pop for your collection and the price suits your budget, then why not?

At Symbiote, we like to look at things in a positive light but there are a couple of cons when it comes to having signed Pops and those are:

  1. Hard to authenticate

If you buy a signed Pop without authentication, then it’s going to cost you. The hardest part is shipping and that is where the risk exists also. We have all had those international parcels, the ones that make you lose hope in humanity, all smashed and ruined carelessly.  The good news is that there is a JSA authenticator in Australia now, Shayne Diener. He has about a 15-day turnaround time excluding shipping time and cost starts at $20 USD.  Find out more here: www.spenceloa.com/

  1. Hard to value

It’s a good problem to have but still a problem. With there being fewer of these Pops out there, it’s harder to get an accurate value on some of them. This can also be a positive because we all know ‘the value of something is what people are willing to pay for it’. If it’s that rare and somebody wants it, they will pay for it.

Well, those are our thoughts on autographed Pops. We love them and will continue to have them coming in and out of our collection.
